Lighthouse is celebrating a double win at this year’s Dorset Tourism Awards, retaining its Gold status as Business Events Venue of the Year and adding the Bronze Award for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year.
The winners were announced last Thursday (1 February) at Weymouth Pavilion where 260 winners and sponsors heard guest speaker Dr Kate Aide, the new President of the Dorset Campaign to Protect Rural England, share her observations on tourism in Dorset, highlighting it as an industry that doesn’t get the status it should.
Lucy Funnell, Corporate Development Executive at Lighthouse, says: “We work very hard to make sure everyone who comes to Lighthouse has a great experience, whether they come to see a show, attend a conference, take part in a course, or present a trade fair.”
As well as its exciting programme of high quality and diverse arts and entertainment from national, international, and regional artists, over the last year Lighthouse has been proud to host meetings, conferences, or events for a range of clients including RNLI, Condor Ferries, Diverse Abilities, Open University, BCP Council, Arts University Bournemouth, and the Women’s Institute.
“The awards are testament to the exceptional efforts of everyone at Lighthouse who works to create unforgettable experiences for all of our patrons.
“Not only are we able to support business users deliver their events, our clients find that hosting events in an inspirational arts space offers them a welcome change of pace from their usual business environment,” adds Lucy.
Lighthouse is also a finalist in the Business Events Venue of the Year category at the South West England Tourism Excellence Awards in March and could yet qualify for the national Visit England Awards later in the year.
