Studio Jazz: Zoe Rahman Trio

Fri 28 May 2027

We’re delighted to welcome Zoe Rahman back to Studio Jazz, described by The Observer as “a remarkable pianist by any standard” and one of the brightest stars on the contemporary jazz scene.

Zoe Rahman – piano

Alec Dankworth – bass

Gene Calderazzo – drums

A vibrant and highly individual pianist/composer, Zoe’s style is deeply rooted in jazz, yet it reflects her classical background, British/Bengali heritage, and her very broad musical taste. Known for her powerful technique, wide-ranging imagination and exuberant performance, she has become a highly sought-after musician on the international jazz scene.

Now at the top of the British scene for almost 20 years, this has been recognised by an Ivor Novello Impact Award at the Ivors Composer Awards, and Zoe’s also won a MOBO Award (best Jazz Act 2012) for her album Kindred Spirits, “a work of breathtaking musical imagination” (Metro) and been a finalist for the Mercury Prize, alongside the likes of Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Arctic Monkeys and Muse, for her second album, Melting Pot. That album also won ‘Jazz Album of the Year’ at the UK’s inaugural Parliamentary Jazz Awards.

With a new album in tow, Zoe brings with her her regular trio of New York drummer Gene Calderazzo (Pharaoh Sanders, Randy Brecker) and bassist Alec Dankworth (Dave Brubeck, Abdullah Ibrahim), for what should be a top night of fantastic jazz.

With pre-show Q&A from 7.45pm to 8pm.
