Dorset History Centre has received a grant of over £600K from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to help improve access to archives.
In the Poole Lighthouse Archive Project we are hoping to prepare the archives held at Poole Lighthouse for transfer to Dorset History Centre for permanent preservation, cataloguing and future engagement work.
Volunteers will contribute to this project under the guidance of the Project Archivist.
When? Mon – Fri 10am – 5pm starting Mon 3 – Mon 31 Aug
What? Help prepare Poole Lighthouse archives for transfer to Dorset History Centre by re-boxing and repackaging the archives into archival packaging supplied by DHC; to create an up to date box-list of the collection using a spreadsheet; and to sort individual series such as programmes, brochures and posters into two master sets – one for DHC and one for Poole.
