Pride: ‘If you can film it, we want to see it!’

Lighthouse is to showcase the work of Dorset-based LGBTQ+ film makers in a Cinema takeover as part of the first ever Poole Pride event this summer.

Working with Arts University Bournemouth’s Queer Cinema Society, Lighthouse is delighted to announce the Short Film Open Call for Poole Pride.

“Whether you are an established film maker, or dream of becoming the next big thing in the industry, we are taking submissions from anyone who identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community in Dorset,” explains Lighthouse Programming Executive Ashton Corbin.

“Some of the most astounding pieces of cinema have been created on the smallest budgets, so we are looking for innovative entries to showcase the ingenuity of proud local creatives using an iPhone, DSLR, old-timey tripod – if you can film it, we want to see it!”

Successful applicants selected for the short-list will have their work screened in the Cinema at Lighthouse as part of celebration of local cinematic Pride on Friday 7 June.

All entries must be based on the stimulus word PRIDE and run no longer than eight minutes. Creators must identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community and be based in Dorset, permanently or temporarily. The submission deadline is Wednesday 1 May.
