Lighthouse Poole is delighted to announce its popular Family Cinema strand will continue with the support of the BFI’s Film Audience Network (FAN) made possible thanks to National Lottery funding.
As Poole’s only independent cinema, in the heart of the town centre, Lighthouse has seen its film audience double in the last two years and will continue to augment its programme of British, classic, world and indie titles across a range of genres with a specially curated programme of family films with tickets priced at only £5.50*. The family films will include much-loved classics, international films, independent and British films.
“Family Cinema has been a real success story, delivering exceptional cinema experiences for families in our area that might not otherwise be able to enjoy a trip to the cinema,” says Katy Griffiths, Lighthouse Head of Programming.
“Thanks to National Lottery funding, with the ongoing support of the BFI’s FAN we are able to continue to offer a diverse programme of family films for children up to 12 years old with screenings accompanied by creative workshops themed around film.”

We’re pleased to see the screenings accompanied by creative workshops, helping to make each visit an engaging experience especially for young audiences and their families alike.”
With monthly screenings from October, Family Cinema is an opportunity to experience films on the big screen that are not often shown at the cinema and will create an affordable communal outing for families, establishing a place to gather and socialise around a love of film. Each screening will be followed by a free themed arts and crafts workshop.
