Lighthouse is delighted to congratulate actor Benjamin Armstrong on his nomination as Best Newcomer in the national Pantomime Awards, having taken on the title role of last year’s in-house production of Aladdin.
The Pantomime Association sent dozens of judges to more than 200 pantos last Christmas, so it’s a real honour for Ben to be nominated in the ‘Panto Oscars’ with the winners due to be named in a red carpet event on Tuesday 18 June.
“It is a real achievement to have a nomination for the annual Panto Awards and Ben is a deserving nominee,” says Lighthouse Chief Executive Elspeth McBain.
“This was his first role in a pantomime, and we are delighted to have given him that opportunity to shine. His beautiful rendition of Take That’s Rule the World was a real highlight of our show.
“Our fingers – and everything else – are crossed for a win!”
Written and directed by Chris Jarvis, who also played Dame, with Production Designer James Smith and Musical Director Darren Reeves, Aladdin builds on previous success for Lighthouse at the Pantomime Awards.
Last year, 2022’s in-house production of Cinderella saw Andrew Pollard and Alim Jadavji win Best Sisters although the show lost out to Sir Ian McKellen’s Mother Goose as Best Panto in all the land!
Chris Jarvis is returning to Lighthouse in December to write, direct and star in Sleeping Beauty.
