The heat is on this Christmas as Lighthouse Poole goes head-to-head with the likes of John Lewis and Marks and Spencer, with the launch of its very own Christmas TV advert that promises to pack an emotional punch.
The classy trailer promotes Jack and the Beanstalk, written and directed by CBeebies’ favourite Chris Jarvis who also stars as Dame Trott, premieres tomorrow (Tuesday 2 November) at 5.15pm on ITV Meridian before being shown on ITVX throughout November and shown in the arts centre’s cinema into December.
The advert, filmed at Lighthouse by Poole-based production house Kindful Creative, celebrates the importance of gathering your family together at Christmas – a family that includes Dame Trott, Jack (Kieran Morris), Merlin the Wizard (Robert Rees), Fairy Sunshine (Bernadette Bangura) and the legendary Daisy the Cow.
“This is not just storytelling, this is Lighthouse storytelling,” says John Baker, Head of Audiences and Communication at Lighthouse.”
“We felt that John Lewis have had it their own way for too long and it was time for Lighthouse to enter the race for the year’s top Christmas advert – and teach the retail giants a thing or two about fee-fi-fo-FUN!”
Made in Poole especially for Lighthouse audiences, Jack and the Beanstalk is the latest in a run of hit pantomime in recent years that has included the national Panto Award nominated Dick Whittington last year and winners Aladdin and Cinderella. It’s written and directed by Chris Jarvis with choreographer Daniel Donaldson Todd, production designer James Smith and musical director Adam Tuffrey.
