Lighthouse heads out with Pride

Back

A joyful celebration of the beautiful identities of our LGBTQ+ community, the first ever Poole Pride will bring a splash of rainbow colour to Lighthouse on Saturday 8 June with an open invitation to come as you are and embrace a full day of inclusive entertainment.

With free performances and exhibitions in various venues throughout Lighthouse – Pop’n’Olly’s Storytime and Crafts – as well as Life’s a Cabaret in the Sherling Studio with Outspoken, the Pride Slam, Dorsetborn’s Writing Out Loud, and two houses of the Come On Out Cabaret, one suitable for all the family, the other not.

And what better excuse than Poole Pride to make use of our wonderful Outside Theatre space at the side of Lighthouse? The amphitheatre-style venue, used most recently for Lighthouse Outside, is being pressed back into service to host Pride Outside.

Our host for an afternoon of Pride-tastic entertainment will be everyone’s favourite CBeebies star, Chris Jarvis. He’ll get proceedings underway at 1pm by introducing Poole’s Pride Showcase, a local variety bill of family-friendly talent.

“I’m very much looking forward to seeing you for a wonderful time at Pride Outside,” says Chris. “Just like our Lighthouse pantos, it’ll be family-friendly entertainment with a proper variety bill of singing, dancing and laughing – hopefully in glorious sunshine – with lots of surprises. Everyone will be welcome at Pride Outside.”

Chris will also be on hand to marshal our very own dog show, Proud Pooches. Everyone is welcome to show their canine companion… it’ll be paw-some!

Rounding off the afternoon there’s a party with the guarantee of top party tunes and Pride bangers.

*Please note: All daytime events are free to attend, but to avoid disappointment it is advisable to book tickets in advance in the usual way at Home – Lighthouse (lighthousepoole.co.uk)
