Trio Pierné (flute, cello and piano) presents a Jane Austen inspired repertoire to mark this commemorative year, with a wonderful programme of music from a time of music rooms and music salons.
When Trio Pierné comes together, they create a beautiful and distinctive sound, performing at many prestigious venues. Notable concerts for the trio this year will be given at Elgar’s birthplace and at the home of the late Sir Edward Heath, a former prime minister with a great love and appreciation of music.
Clare Deniz (cello)
Since her Purcell Room debut, Clare Deniz has performed all over the UK and gives regular concerts for The National Trust. She curated a programme for cello and classical guitar for the recent Capability Brown Festival 300 in 2016 and has recently performed at Gloucester and Worcester Cathedral. She has also performed unaccompanied concerts at Amsterdam Concertgebouw and in Paris, and has appeared on television playing her cello to nightingales in the manner of Beatrice Harrison who was broadcast doing this in the 30s and 40s.
Amongst a stream of eminent teachers, beginning at The Royal Academy of Music, she was taught by the inspirational Jacqueline du Pre and Paul Tortelier. Clare is listed in the International Who’s who in Classical Music and is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Member of The Royal Society of Musicians and she has a Post Graduate Diploma from Queens University Belfast. She studied language at The School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies at UCL London University and has a Masters Degree from Goldsmiths College London University, entering university at Post Graduate level.
Camilla Marchant (flute)
Camilla has performed with many of the UK’s leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. With the LSO she toured with Sir Simon Rattle, performed at the BBC Proms, and recorded the soundtrack for the Oscar-winning film The Shape of Water. Camilla has also performed under the baton of many other eminent conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Semyon Bychkov, and Marin Alsop.
In addition to her orchestral work, Camilla regularly enjoys performing solo and chamber recitals, and regularly performs a diverse range of repertoire with the Levanto Ensemble, who were finalists in the Royal Overseas League Ensembles Prize 2021 & 2023 and semi-finalist in the St Martin’s Chamber Prize 2020. She won the Woodwind Prize and the Flute Prize at the Royal College of Music in 2016, as well as the Piccolo Prize at the Royal Academy of Music in 2017. She was also a finalist in the Yamaha Music Europe Competition.
Recently graduating with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music where she studied with Michael Cox and Karen Jones, she was was awarded the DipRAM for Outstanding Final Recital, the Helen Read Prize for achievement, and was appointed as the Regent Fellow. Camilla previously completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal College of Music.
Passionate about music education, Camilla now teaches, and since graduating, Camilla has also been invited to coach classes at the Royal College and Royal Academy of Music.
Yoon Seok (John) Shin (pianist)
Following his success in numerous prestigious international and national competitions and awards, most notably securing Third Prize at the 2nd Manchester International Concerto Competition in 2009, South Korean born British pianist Yoon Seok (John) Shin has become a highly sought-after artist. He has cultivated a dynamic international career as a solo recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician, performing over 50 engagements each year across Europe, Asia and the UK. His poised, polished, and innovative performances have earned high praise from esteemed critics and he is currently recognised as a Young Steinway Artist, serving as an official artist for T&B Entertainment in South Korea.
Mr. Shin has graced many renowned venues in London, and his performances have also taken him all over the UK and to Sweden, Russia and South Korea.He made his first major concerto debut in London in 2017 and regularly performs with ensembles including the Seoul Amore Philharmonic Orchestra, New London Orchestra, Manchester Camarata and Thames Philharmonia, under distinguished conductors.
Mr. Shin earned his Artist Diploma (ArtDip) in Performance and Master of Music (MMus) in Advanced Performance from the Royal College of Music in London, studying under Professor Andrew Ball. Prior to this, he completed his Bachelor of Music with Honours (BMus Hons) in Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (formerly Trinity College of Music) in London, studying with Professor Philip Fowke. He graduated with First Class Honours and was awarded the City Livery Club Prize in 2009. He conducts workshops and masterclasses and currently teaches, as well as being an official ballet répétiteur, collaborating with the Royal Academy of Dance, London at Thomas’s London Day Preparatory Schools – an institution formerly attended by Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the children of William, Prince of Wales.
