Jay & Joss, the award-winning illusionists who stunned the judges on Britain's Got Talent, are back with a mind-bending new show – a chance to sit back and leave real life behind! It’s Not a Game, at Lighthouse Poole on Wednesday 1 July, invites you into a world where nothing is quite as it seems.
The illusionist duo who made Simon Cowell believe in magic on Britain’s Got Talent are touring in their most ambitious project to date – a brand new show that promises to blur the line between reality and illusion.
We caught up with them ahead of the tour to find out more about It’s Not a Game:
What inspired you to create It’s Not a Game?
We’re always trying to achieve something that’s more than just your average magic show, and with It’s Not a Game, we’ve really tried to make something that’s relevant, current and appealing. There’s some really cool visual moments and we can’t wait to share these!
You’ve performed on Britain’s Got Talent and Penn & Teller’s Fool Us – how have those experiences shaped this show?
Doing these TV shows allowed us to be really creative, although we didn’t showcase the big illusions and routines, so we’ve really tried to incorporate some large scale magic and illusions into this show. This is where we’re at home and can really showcase what we have to offer!
This is described as your most ambitious project to date. What can audiences expect that they haven’t seen from you before?
Previously we’ve done everything ourselves… this project has a huge incredible team behind it! We’ve got the best people producing, writing scripts, creating original music, designing lighting and building sets. With so many incredibly creative people
working together, the bar has risen and we’ve upped our game.
Your illusions are known for being jaw-dropping and visually breathtaking – how do you keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible?
With this show in particular, there’s a lot of cool visual moments, and we’re definitely using a lot more technology within the show, which is very fitting with the direction that the show has gone in. It’s going to be a visual spectacle!
You’re now thrilling audiences all over the world, what is it about magic and illusion that you think connects with people everywhere?
Magic is universal! If you see something that makes you turn your head, question what’s happening or offer a sense of wonder, then it’s a really magical feeling! It plays to audiences of all ages and doesn’t leave anyone out. Families can experience magic and wonder together, and it’s such a lovely feeling being able to
make that happen!
