The team behind Poole Pride’s Come On Out Cabaret are back! They’ll be hitting the Sherling Studio stage on Friday (6 February) to usher in a new era of cabaret at Lighthouse...
Featuring familiar faces and fresh reprobates, the Lucid Cabaret will seduce, scandalise and slay. Strap in for giggles and mayhem with your host þ (Thorn) as they guide you through this night of the rip-roaring ridiculous.
For this inaugural Lucid Cabaret, we will be welcoming to the stage some incredible local artists – let us know who you’re most excited for on social media!
Dandy Issues, of course, has been involved with both Come On Out and Tit For Tat Cabarets since the beginning. The undisputed King of Bournemouth, and UK King of Camp, his quick wit on the mic and cheesy singalongs make him the life of the party everywhere he goes. What would this cabaret be without our reigning monarch?
Ri Baroche, the Quantum Queen, is another T4T and Come On Out veteran. Having wowed us with snippets of her solo shows Drag’N’Drop, Call Me, Mother Nature and Wanted: Dead & Alive, she will be returning to the stage as the soothingly Welsh, Dolly Parton–esque Mother Nature. After so long of being spoken for, it’s time for the Earth Mother to speak for herself!
Venezuela D’Viña, the Latina Queen of the UK, will of course be gracing us with her beauty-contest winning style and smile. Having performed at every single T4T and Come On Out Cabaret, she knows this stage like the back of her hand, and she will make sure you know it too.
Nyx Embers is one of the founding members of Dorset-based Steamship Circus, the performer-in-residence at Bournemouth’s Haus Cabaret, and so multi–talented it’s criminal. From pole and burlesque to fire and high-flying circus, Nyx has cornered the markets on simmering sex appeal and stunningly skilled seduction.
Bournemouth’s beloved Loca Del Coño will be gracing the Studio stage for the first time! As one of the only two artists to have performed at every single T4T fundraiser, it is about time this Queen B*tch exploded onto the Lighthouse boards. Expect the extraordinary, the scatological, and the madly meditative!
Topping it all off will be the silliest sausage in Dorset, your host þ. They have not stopped coming up with vile chat up lines and excuses to whip their packer out onstage, so make sure your party are 18+ or they may be in for the awakening of a lifetime!
We also hear rumours that GanDILF, Middle Earth’s sexiest grandpa, may be making an appearance… However, that is confidential information, so keep it secret, keep it safe!
Starting on Friday, Lucid Cabaret will run on a quarterly basis in the Studio. It will be a springboard for local artists, both established and up-and-coming, to showcase their work in one of the UK’s largest arts centres. They’ll be highlighting the best Dorset has to offer in drag, circus, comedy and all things variety. Artists from all around the UK will be invited to perform alongside our Dorset Darlings, and of course, we will make sure to bring back your favourite acts for Poole Pride.
Each of the Lucid Cabarets will have an audience vote, the winner of which will be offered a slot in the Come On Out Cabaret at Pride. So to decide your Pride, get yourself a Lucid ticket and come play with BCP’s best drag artists, circus sweethearts, cantankerous clowns, and more!
Expect high-flying capers, japes, and a lot of silly sausage energy! And if you can’t make it this time, tickets are already on sale for the next show, on Friday 2 May, with messages from beyond the apocalypse!
Finally, Lucid are always looking for new acts to showcase in the Sherling Studio, so get in touch with the Lucid team via Instagram (@lucideers or @eikus.thorn) or email (lucidfaerietales@gmail.com) to tell them which Dorset artists you’d love to see strut their stuff!
