Overview

Part of this year's Lighthouse Outside programme, taking place in the amphitheatre to the side of Lighthouse in summer 2022. An unforgettable theatre, music, comedy (for the grown ups and for kids) and more in our open air setting.

You'll be seated on the grass, so please bring your own chairs, picnic rug, blankets and cushions to sit on.

One of the great British instrumentalists of his generation, James Taylor has taken his trademark howling Hammond organ sound to the masses for more than 30 years and is still famed for upbeat, energetic live shows. With no sign of slowing down, the band’s relentlessly entertaining tunes take inspiration from rare-groove and boogaloo funk of the 60s and 70s and, without a doubt, remain one of British music’s most important jazz-pop crossover outfits.

JTQ’s fired-up signature tune, The Theme from Starsky and Hutch, cemented the band’s reputation as masters of the jazz-funk-R&B workout as 60s spy themes, psychedelic and free-form jazz all added something to the band’s distinctive sound.

The band’s recorded output is prolific, touching genres as diverse as jazz, funk, soul, rock, and even rap, not to mention a handful of library albums in between. Live, the band is explosive, with a breathtaking, unmatched back catalogue.
