Art has been one of the major figures in the development of British modern jazz. He played with host of leading figures in British and American jazz in the course of a six decades career at the top (for much of that time also a consultant orthopaedic surgeon!). In recent years he’s also played with some of the upcoming stars (like Laura Jurd). Peter Vache described him as “a veteran master now, in such eloquent form”. With his frequent partner veteran drummer Dave Barry, he leads a brilliant band of major figures on the scene in a band dedicated to combining great improvisation and compelling swing.
