Following their successful first exhibition and programme of community arts activities in the Summer of 2021, The Power House is delighted to be producing this once in a life-time opportunity for Poole, the wider community, and visitors to come together, create, and celebrate Her Majesty’s glorious 70-year reign. Poole Britannia!

Jubilee Mosaic Murals by David Bowers and Hamworthy Park Junior and Twin Sails Infants Schools: Hamworthy Primary School invited David to create 7 Mosaic Wall Murals – celebrating each decade of the Queen’s reign to be installed at the school for the whole school community and visitors to enjoy and remember for many years to come.

Mosaic Portrait of the Queen by Amanda Waite and GCSE Art Students in collaboration with Claire Austin and Maureen La Frenais: Amanda’s work of capturing young people’s identity combined with the cyanotype technique, working with 20 GCSE Art Students from Cornerstone Academy, Lytchett Minster School, and other schools, Amanda is creating a collaborative Mosaic Portrait of the Queen using the students’ pieces of abstract art created in workshops she leads.

Platinum Jubilee Globes by The Clay Shack working with Longfleet Combined School: Erica Hale and Dawn **** have worked with children aged 7-10 to create a series of ceramic globes commemorating Her Majesty, that are simply delightful and detailed.

A day of creative arts and interactive activities for the whole community and visitors to our town, young and old to join in.

To celebrate Her Majesty and open our Jubilee Exhibition, we are holding a Jubilee Celebration Event hosted by Lighthouse, Poole – originally opened by the Queen in 1979 who received a specially commissioned piece of Poole Pottery in commemoration.  

  • Drop-In Art workshops and interactive activities for the family  
  • “Mass’d Sing”: Community Choir workshop in the Sherling Theatre led by Ali Sharpe including learning her composed Jubilee Song commissioned by The Power House. Free Tickets booked through Lighthouse Ticket Office.
  • Performances in the Sherling Theatre by Hamworthy Park Junior and Twin Sails Infants of their Creative Writing and Drama pieces created in their Jubilee Project and facilitated by Dorset’s CoCreate. Free Tickets booked through Lighthouse Ticket Office.
