Charmaine Childs - 'Strong Enough'/Talawa - 'The Tide'

Part of this year's Lighthouse Outside programme, taking place in the amphitheatre to the side of Lighthouse in summer 2022. An unforgettable theatre, music, comedy (for the grown ups and for kids) and more in our open air setting.  

You'll be seated on the grass, so please bring your own chairs, picnic rug, blankets and cushions to sit on.

Strong Enough - Charmaine Childs

Strong Enough is an uplifting and moving celebration of the extraordinary strength of ordinary people.

A circus Strong Lady uses the physical strength in circus skills to reveal the inner strength of the stories she has collected from people around the UK – stories about times when they have been strong in their lives. The soundtrack is peppered with the voices of people telling their stories in their own words, mixed with verbal storytelling and with a highly physical physical storytelling style.

Feats of strength, circus tricks, acro-dance and comedy weave together to deliver an uplifting, empowering and moving message: we are strong enough.

The Tide - Talawa Theatre Company

Unknown land, new arrivals, boarded doors and a suitcase full of hopes, dreams and aspirations. 

Co-created by writer Ryan Cameron and choreographer Jade Hackett, ‘The Tide’ explores the narratives and experiences of migration within The United Kingdom whilst holding a mirror to an evolving British culture.

The Tide is a Talawa Theatre Company, Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, and Breakin’ Convention co-production.

The Tide is supported by Without Walls, and commissioned by Brighton Festival and Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, and is Talawa's first ever show created exclusively for outdoor performance.

12.00pm showing - 'Strong Enough' at 12.00 and 'The Tide' at 1.00pm
2.30pm showing - 'Strong Enough' at 2.30pm and 'The Tide' at 3.45pm
