Spoken Word Function Room 1 & 2

Come and listen to the story of Mathmos lava lamps in Poole from their invention by local entrepreneur and eccentric Edward Craven Walker in 1963 until today. In continuous manufacture in Poole for 56 years, Cressida Granger M.D. will tell local stories about this well-loved cultural icon.  Cressida Granger has owned and run Mathmos for 30 years, guiding Mathmos through the rapid growth of the '90s, the challenges of the '00s and the company’s current resurgence. Under Cressida's watch, Mathmos has won two Queens Awards for Export, won several design and business awards and been involved in establishing the Made in Britain marque.
