Cast Q&A

  • How did you get into performing, was there a particular artist you saw that resonated with you?

My dad was a singer/performer. I got into singing in the Gospel Choir at my church in Miami Florida.

  • What is your favourite performing memory?

Wow, I have so many great memories from performing, singing ‘Three Times a Lady’ to my wife on stage on our 9 years wedding anniversary. Also, holding my son in my arms when he was two years old on stage when performing.

  • How long have you been a fan of Motown?

Since I was a kid, I grew up with Motown! My dad used to sing to my mum around our house. Stevie Wonder was always a favourite of mine, and still is my favourite artist.

  • How long have you been singing in a Motown act?

I have been singing in our Motown act for 16 years I think, it’s been a long time, but I still love it more than anything.

  • If you hadn’t had been a performer what would you be doing?

If I hadn’t become a performer I would’ve been gardening and landscaping as I love it, I used to do it in America when I was a teenager and had a passion for it. I had my own gardening business in America before I took up singing as a career.

  • What’s been a funny moment for you all on stage?  Any mishaps you want to share?

The funniest moments in my career has to be when I fell off stage! I rolled over a wire on the front of the stage and fell off, but still carried on singing!

A lady once came on stage and stripped off, security got her off stage very quickly. That had never happened before!

  • What do you like to do in your free time when not performing?

I enjoy gardening and relaxing at the movies!

  • What advice would you give to someone who would like to get into the industry?

The advice I would give to someone wanting to get into the industry would be to keep singing and never give up on your dreams. Keep learning new music and be able to accept constructive criticism to improve.

  • What is the most rewarding thing about your work?

The most rewarding thing about my work is seeing the smiles on the audience’s faces when performing and hearing the comments they make afterwards about how they forget all their worries and problems during our performance because they are dancing and singing along, enjoying themselves. We’ve brought back good memories for couples, bringing them closer together. It’s amazing and uplifting what good entertainment can bring to people.
