A return to form for one of American cinema’s master auteurs, Terrence Malick’s latest spiritual epic tells the little-known story of Austrian farmer Franz Jägerstätter, who refused to fight for the Nazis during the Second World War. Made a pariah in his homeland, accused of treason and eventually threatened with execution, Jägerstätter continued to stand up for his beliefs, drawing strength from his faith and his love for his family.
