Rachael Morgan (Knightley), wife of the British colonel (Clarke) charged with rebuilding the ruined city, reluctantly agrees to her husband’s decision to share their grand new home with its previous owners, a German widower (Alexander Skarsgård) and his troubled daughter. In this charged atmosphere, enmity and grief give way to passion and betrayal. James Kent (Testament Of Youth) directs this period drama based on Rhidian Brook’s novel of the same name.
