BSO Concert Season

Chief Conductor Kirill Karabits kicks off his tenth season with the BSO with a tumultuous performance of Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony. Later in the season he will also be conducting other great symphonies by Shostakovich, Elgar, Beethoven and Dvořák. Marking the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War One, a number of works have been programmed including a suite of Prokofiev’s intense and colourful War and Peace and the world premiere of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Testament. Remembrance Sunday will also see a special concert featuring music and poetry to commemorate those who gave their lives. Other highlights include a spotlight on Richard Strauss with his deeply personal Four Last Songs, blazing Also Sprach Zarathustra and more unfamiliar Symphonia Domestica, and a special performance of Tippett’s stirring oratorio A Child of Our Time.

Free “Meet the Music “ pre-concert talks take place in the Concert Hall at 6.30pm.

All concerts start at 7.30pm unless stated otherwise.
