Music The Sherling Studio

Charlotte Glasson’s Quintet is an award winning band, playing their own blend of jazz - from New Orleans to postbop, via Gypsy Jazz, Surf, Swing, Latin and Klezmer - to create a kaleidoscope of musical colour to uplift and entertain.

Charlotte Glasson started playing violin as a kid, then as she was in her teens started to play saxophone, and has never looked back. She writes music to try and combine new sounds together taken from her love of lots of different styles of music, to create an uplifting new jazz sound.

She has worked all over the world including a sell out run with The Lost and Found Orchestra at Sydney Opera House, Bangkok International Jazz Festival with the Claire Martin Band, Camille O”Sullivan at Edinburgh Festival and recently with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds on Skeleton Tree.

Jazz trombonist Mark Bassey has been described as “a superb, witty player” (Dave Gelly); his playing can stretch from the “raucous” (John Fordham) to an “exquisite sound and perfect phrasing” (Brian Blain).

Guitar legend Chris Spedding, first came to prominence with Nucleus, then worked with Jack Bruce, John Cale, Tom Waits, Bryan Ferry and Jeff Wayne’s ‘Wat of the Worlds’ and Paul McCartney. Recently he has been playing with The Sharks.

Mick Hutton has played with everyone on the jazz scene from Humphrey Littleton to Django Bates and Bill Bruford. A solid foundation and he’s the bedrock of the band.

Sam Glasson has worked with many great lineups including Cubana Bop, Ian Shaw, Alan Barnes, Tina May, the Sue Richardson Quintet and The Lost and Found Orchestra (from the creators of STOMP)
