Music Concert Hall

Overview

Bach’s St Matthew Passion is one of the most magnificent and inspired works in the whole of Western Art. Written in 1717, it is cast on a huge scale written for two choirs and two orchestras, with five soloists who either participate in telling the story or comment on the Passion of Jesus Christ.

This performance is given by the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, the Bournemouth Symphony Youth Chorus, the Bournemouth Chamber Orchestra under Gavin Carr, with an outstanding team of soloists headed by Mark Milhofer. This continues the tradition inaugurated by the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Lighthouse to perform one of the Bach Passions each Easter.

Mark Milhofer - Evangelist
Stephen Gadd - Christus
Erica Eloff - soprano alto
Ben Nelson - bass
