For this week’s #MondayMemories we turn to Mick Tarrant, a regular since Poole Arts Centre opened in 1978. The veteran of countless performances and probably as many film screenings, he recalls a series of showcase gigs from the first decade of the century...

Some of my most enjoyable gigs at Lighthouse were those African Soul Rebels packages that were put on regularly. I remember some of them were on the Concert Hall flat floor with big round tables at the rear and a dance area in front of stage. Drinks were allowed into the auditorium too. I attended most of them and some of the latter gigs saw a return to a seated auditorium – a pity as the flat floor experiment provided a great ambience.
