MondayMemories is back in the company of the marvellous people at @LoveForLighthouse whose brilliant online benefit concert for LIghthouse did so much to raise spirits, awareness and funds. Helen Whelan, Head of Drama at Parkstone Grammar School, who helped unite the talented alumni who took part, shares her #MondayMemories.
"Just wanted to say how much I love our arts centre. I don't know anywhere outside a major city that has a cultural hub with such diversity and access. As a local Drama Teacher for 22 years and a parent there are so many memories to share – the pyramid schools concerts, Shakespeare Schools Festivals (pictured), workshops, network with other teachers, exhibitions, cinema, BSO and BSC concerts and too many memorable theatre productions to list here.
“My abiding memories of Lighthouse are talking to students after an incredible show – often the first live theatre they have seen apart from the annual family outing to the panto. It is also the moment they stand on the stage for the first time in stage lighting for the Shakespeare Schools Festival and the standing ovation for the world class BSO/BSC concerts I would never have been to see unless my son had joined the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus eight years ago.
“We love Lighthouse and hope this online benefit has gone some way to show what you mean to us and how much we miss you. We hope to show as much support as we can until your doors open to us again.”
