Lighthouse Poole support exhibitions by artists.
We have several well-equipped Visual Arts Spaces available to hire across Lighthouse and a focal white wall gallery space which is curated with work shown by invitation.
The uncurated spaces include:
The large Top Floor Gallery which is perfect for group exhibitions and larger shows.
The intimate Mezzanine Gallery, ideal for smaller exhibitions.
The new Young Peoples Gallery outside the Sherling Studio showing student exhibitions.
And, since our recent refurbishment, we have digital screens that have the capacity to show digital media work.
Our galleries show both local amateur and professional artists.
Lighthouse want to give artists exhibiting in all our galleries the best experience we can. Showcasing art and championing artists in our building is important to us and we want you to have a rewarding and successful experience. The spaces have several unique aspects that support this, such as extended opening hours in the evenings, fantastic views of the Purbeck Hills and excellent natural lighting, augmented by down and ceiling lights. Moreover, support for exhibitors includes promotion through our marketing, hanging of work, and advice and friendly support.
As Lighthouse is a public building and our spaces are open access, we reserve the right to make display decisions, to ensure the artwork in our galleries is appropriate for unmoderated public spaces. Our exhibition spaces have proved to be very popular with artists and visitors alike and demand often outstrips our ability to present all the submissions.
Please feel free to approach us as a group or as an individual artist to discuss your exhibition ideas. For more information and for a copy of gallery hire terms please contact Stephen Bishop who coordinates our Visual Arts programme.
The studio is a laboratory, not a factory. An exhibition is the result of your experiments, but the process is never-ending. So an exhibition is not a conclusion.
