Jim Mullen – Guitar Ross Stanley – Hammond Organ Tristan Maillot – Drums
A multi-award winner, including a special Honorary Parliamentary Jazz Award in 2017, Jim Mullen is widely regarded as one of the finest jazz guitarists in Europe. Originally from Glasgow, he made his name playing with a number of seminal bands through the 70’s and 80’s including Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express, The Average White Band and his own highly acclaimed jazz outfit, Morrissey-Mullen – a 15 year partnership with the great UK tenor sax player, Dick Morrissey.
A prized sideman as well as leader, Jim has collaborated with the likes of Gene Harris, Jimmy Smith, Mose Allison, Terry Callier, Teddy Edwards, Johnny Griffin, Frank Wess, Benny Green, Brian Auger, Georgie Fame, Hamish Stuart and Claire Martin, to name but a few. The band he leads this evening features the classic organ trio format, with the fantastic and hugely in-demand ROSS STANLEY on Hammond, and the brilliant TRISTAN MAILLIOT on drums.
Jim has recorded many albums under his own name in organ trio and quartet formats. Recently he recorded several of his own compositions with a 9-piece band on the album ‘Volunteers’, with leading UK musicians, including Gareth Williams, Alan Barnes, Gareth Lockrane, Mark Nightingale. Early booking advised! “One of the great Jazz guitarists working today” Jazzwise “World Class … Each piece gets a unique, often surprising treatment, performed with the understated virtuosity that marks out the best and most mature players.” The Guardian
