AUB Productions Presents

Queer Joy Theatre Workshops

With Stephanie Kempson and Pete MacHale

Fri 7 Jun - Sat 8 Jun

Come and join professional theatre makers for a fun, interactive workshop, exploring queer stories and theatre techniques. This workshop is open to all comers including professional theatre makers, or complete novices.

Director Stephanie Kempson (Sharp Teeth), writer and actor Pete MacHale (Dear Young Monster) are coming to Lighthouse with the aim of finding ways to celebrate queer joy in theatre. Joined by creative producer Jonny Hoskins and dramaturg Steph Dale (Salt), they will facilitate writing, devising and storytelling master classes to equip you with the best tools to tell the joyous queer stories we all need, and there might be time to share an idea you have developed to a small audience.

The creative team from AUB Productions are investigating local narratives, as part of an ongoing script development process.  They are working towards a show at the Palace Court Theatre in June 2025. AlterNative Narratives (working title) will be a show set across 3 timelines in Dorset, that slides through history, asking, “What does it mean to be from here (right here, right now, with each other)?”  Who knows?  You might be contributing to the script!
Sessions run as follows:

Friday the 7th of June: 11am & 2pm
Saturday the 8th of June: 11am & 2pm

Approximate 2 hour duration, including time for an informal sharing at the end of each session.
Sessions are free but please email to secure your place
