Giacomo isn’t a retro-stylist or a music historian. His Hot Five is a nod to Louis Armstrong’s ground breaking ensemble but also includes music from Ellington, Henderson, Jelly Ross Morton and other leading figures from this period. His exploration of this music is born of a fascination with an era in which genres of blues, ragtime, swing and Latin music blurred together in a sincere and barely commercialised artistic expression.

Giacomo leads a band of young modernists who have sold out Ronnie’s and featured at Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
