Our students perform two beloved Oscar Wilde plays, An Ideal Husband and The Importance of Being Earnest, abridged and directed by Hannah Soulsby-Phillips. These adaptations are sure to delight and amuse, faithful as they are to Wilde’s sharp-tongued wit and satirical silliness.
An Ideal Husband focuses on the dilemma of a prominent British politician, Robert Chiltern, who wants to expose a financial fraud but who has been threatened with personal ruin if he does.
The Importance of Being Earnest is the story of two bachelors, John ‘Jack’ Worthing and Algernon ‘Algy’ Moncrieff, who create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives.
