Moscow City Ballet
Swan Lake
8 - 9 February 2011
Moscow City Ballet was formed in 1988 by Victor Smirnov-Golovanov , distinguished Russian choreographer and one time Bolshoi soloist. After twenty two years, Moscow City Ballet and the Moscow Ballet Orchestra continue to evolve. The Company owes its distinctive style to the unique method, artistry and dedication of Victor and his wife Ludmila Nerubashenko, chief ballet mistress. The dancers are some of Moscow’s most accomplished soloists accompanied by a sublime corps de ballet, all trained in the best traditions of the Russian school.
The 21st century has brought fresh attention to classical ballet. In France and Spain a wave of re-awakening to the classics is gathering force. A performance of Russian classical ballet provides a true dancing experience combining artistry, technique, narrative, and live music, and is attracting a whole new generation of dance lovers.
